Royal Blue Eyes Health Agreement Warranty

Spaying / Neutering and Registration Requirements

Our veterinarian recommends that kittens should be older than 6-8 months before spaying / neutering and younger than when they start cycling. This is typically before 8 months.

The kitten will be given TICA registration papers once the kitten is spayed/neutered, microchipped, and proof from a vet is provided.

We require males and females to be spayed/neutered by 8 months of age to avoid spraying or heat cycles starting.  Proof must be provided of the spaying / neutering to avoid the full price of the kitten by this time-frame.

The full price of the kitten which includes the breeding & show rights is stated for each kitten. A reduced price of a spayed / neutered kitten is also listed and often paid in two parts which includes an agreed upon deposit and the remaining balance.

Health Warranty

The Buyer assumes responsibility for all medical expenses of the kitten at the time the contract is signed (at pick-up or before if the kitten is to be delivered).  The breeder will not assume responsibility of any medical expenses incurred once the kitten is transferred to its new owner.  The buyer will keep all vaccinations current as recommended by their vet and provide proper housing, husbandry, nutrition, and parasite prevention to keep the kitten in healthy condition throughout its life.

Kitten illness is an urgent care situation. Kittens are fragile and can go down-hill incredibly quickly.  Should the kitten become ill at any point in its life, the Buyer will immediately notify the Breeder (via email within 24 hours) and take proper steps to have the kitten seen and treated by the Buyer’s veterinarian and specialists, as necessary. This is of such importance the health warrantee will be voided if the Buyer does not respond to kitten illness by urgently seeking veterinary care (e.g., the kitten having been seen by a vet within 24 hours of the reported first observation of the symptoms as well as appropriate rechecks if the kitten does not improve and especially if the kitten’s symptoms worsen).

If your kitten:

  • is diagnosed with a serious and life-threatening genetic defect or congenital disease before 2 years of age AND
  • is confirmed by a veterinary specialist for the health concern or disease (e.g. a board certified cardiologist for heart issues) AND
  • scientifically accurate methods (e.g. lab testing not merely a snap tests), AND
  • should the kitten die, necropsy (through a veterinary pathology lab)

we will provide you with a replacement kitten of equivalent expense (all medical costs and transport costs are the responsibility of the Buyer)*.

* All health records, lab results, necropsy findings, must be submitted to the seller from the primary source and all veterinarians authorized to discuss the records with the breeder and the breeders veterinarian, for investigation of any claim in regarding to this warranty. Should a replacement be warranted, the buyer will be added to the notification list that is in place at the time: no guarantee can be made as to the timing of available replacement, reader, quality kittens.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)

If FIP is suspected, the Buyer is expected to treat with the ‘GS’ drugs now curing this illness; the kitten will only be replaced should the kitten pass regardless of this treatment (and proof of the purchase of the meds. Will be required).

Examples of conditions that would entitle you to have your kitten replaced include life-threatening heritable heart conditions and degenerative nerve disorders; in other words, conditions that drastically affect the cat’s longevity such that they will live fewer than 9 years (ragdolls’ life expectancy ranges from 9 to 25 years averaging 15).

Examples of conditions that would not qualify for replacement are innocent heart murmurs, growth issues, stress related illness, allergies, or other conditions that an otherwise healthy cat can live with and have quality of life.

The buyer agrees to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of leaving our care.

Voiding the Health Warranty

The health warranty is void for the following (4) reasons:

  1. If the required health check is not performed within 72 hours of leaving our care
  2. If the kitten is declawed
  3. If the kitten is given any FIV/FeLV vaccines or if the kitten is allowed to interact with cats with FIV/FeLV
  4. If the kitten is allowed to roam outside
